A Week on Both Coasts: SkimTurf™ at the Western Summit and the Deep South Turf Expo

SkimTurf™ Management had a very enriching week, with its team represented at two events on opposite sides of the country. On the West Coast, SkimTurf™ exhibited at the first edition of the Western Summit alongside its distributor, Stotz Equipment. At the same time, in Biloxi, Mississippi, SkimTurf™ representative Jared Gray shared the benefits of precision turf management at the Deep South Turf Expo.

A first edition on the West Coast

The Western Summit, held for the first time this year, is a great initiative that brought together golf leaders from across the region. The SkimTurf™ team enjoyed meeting them and exhibiting side by side with Stotz Equipment.

The SkimTurf™ platform uses multispectral satellite imagery, proprietary analytics and AI to monitor turf conditions across the entire golf course. Because the imagery is captured across the whole property at the same moment, superintendents can identify spatial patterns and anomalies that are difficult to detect with spot measurements alone.

The monitoring requires no additional field hardware: no sensors to install, no devices to maintain and minimal extra workload for the team. It complements the field observations, sensors and laboratory testing that turf teams already rely on.

Precision turf management in the Southeast

In the Southeast, Jared Gray represented SkimTurf™ at the Deep South Turf Expo, sharing with attendees the benefits of precision turf management.

Precision turf management means directing water, fertilizer, plant-protection products and labor to the areas that actually need them, based on objective information that supports the superintendent’s experience. With SkimTurf™, that information comes with context from Day 1: new customers receive approximately three years of historical satellite data, where available, to compare current conditions with past seasons and identify recurring problem areas.

‍

From insight to application

The platform brings 17 turf-health metrics together in one place, including vegetation indices, soil-moisture information and 12 nutrients. AI Summaries, AI Alerts and the AI Assistant help turf teams surface unusual conditions, highlight trends and prioritize the areas that need attention, so less time goes into reviewing data and more into informed decisions.

SkimTurf™ is John Deere Operations Center™ connected. Turf teams can create prescription maps based on SkimTurf™ data and send them to the Operations Center for GPS-enabled application. After the application, the same whole-course monitoring helps measure the impact.

The result is a practical workflow for turf professionals: monitor, understand, prioritize, act and measure the impact.
